Difference between "You and I" and "You and me"

A student by the name of Ogi asked about the difference between "You and I" and "You and me" at today's lesson. And I promised to post it here. So:

Grammarwise:
You and I went to the store.
Not “You and me went to the store”.
Because I here is the Subject of the sentence.

Keep it only between you and me.
Not "Keep it only between you and I".
As I mentioned earlier at the lesson, me is grammatically correct after verbs or prepositions (as an object)

But in modern spoken language, it is still okay to use them interchangeably although some grammarians want to hypercorrect everything :-P

Always follow the rules when you're taking an exam!
When you're speaking though, don't try to look nerdy :D

Alright, feel free to ask me more ;)

homework for Job and Interview

Ms. Ballard: I see on your resume that you worked as a manager at Computer Country. Could you tell me a little more about your responsibilities there?

Carey Cornwall: Sure. I was responsible for overseeing about 30 employees, I did all of the ordering for the store, and I kept track of the inventory.

Ms. Ballard: What was the most difficult part of your job?

Carey Cornwall: Probably handling angry customers. We didn't have them very often, but when we did, I needed to make sure they were well taken care of. After all, the customer is always right.

Ms. Ballard: That's how we feel here, too. How long did you work there?

Carey Cornwall: I was there for 3 1/2 years. I left the company last month.

Ms. Ballard: And why did you leave?

Casey Cornwall: My husband has been transferred to Emoryville and I understand your company has an opening there, too.

Ms. Ballard: Yes, that's right, we do. But the position won't start until the middle of next month. Would that be a problem for you?

Carey Cornwall: No, not at all. My husband's new job doesn't begin for a few weeks, so we thought we would spend some time driving to Emoryville and stop to see my parents.

Ms. Ballard: That sounds nice. So tell me, why are you interested in this particular position?

Carey Cornwall: I know that your company has a great reputation and a wonderful product. I have thought many times that I would like to be a part of it. When I heard about the opening in Emoryville, I jumped on the opportunity.

Ms. Ballard: Well, I'm glad you did. Now, please tell me about...

Homework #6: Seasons

Hello everyone. Have you ever wondered what the weather is like in other places around the world? Today, I'd like to talk to you about the changing seasons in my city which was the assigned topic for this class.

First of all, the winter season usually begins in December and ends in early March. The coldest month is January, and temperatures can drop below freezing for most of this month. The city usually averages about 30 inches of snow during this entire, 3-month period.Occasionally, we have snow storms that can drop a foot of snow in a very short period of time. Winter activities during this season include sledding, skiing, and snowshoeing.

Spring usually arrives in late March, and the temperatures hover around 50 degrees during the day. It is a beautiful season because the flowers start to bloom. It is also sometimes windy, and this is great for flying kites. People in my city often like to go on picnics, stroll through the parks, and play outdoor games.

Next, summer starts in June, as temperatures slowly rise to around 80 degrees. The summer in my city is very dry with little rain throughout the season, and temperatures can soar above 100 degrees in August. Fortunately, the weather is very dry with low humidity, so it is pleasant even on hot days. Popular activities during this season hiking, fishing, camping, water skiing, and outdoor sports including football and soccer.

And finally, summer changes to fall in late September when the weather cools off, and the trees begin to change colors. A lot of people enjoy driving into the mountains and viewing the fall colors. It is also a time when people clean up their yards and gardens in preparation for the winter season.

So, as you can see, my city has a lot to offer no matter when you visit this area.
